I present to you today a magnificent recipe that I love, because it is part of the delights of my childhood, the recipe for bean donut from Cameroon !
A very popular dish in Cameroon
This dish is really a nod to all Cameroonians, there is not a single popular crossroads in our cities where there is not a seller of beans in its small counter called " donutariat ", or customers can consume the dish on site or take to take away. In addition to the bean, other supplements are available such as corn porridge, fried fish and cassava stick for all those who find the donuts a little too light.
In addition to being an ideal breakfast , workers also take it as a midday meal , and even in the evening, it can replace dinner. So it's a dish goes everywhere .. lol
I remember that at home, when we were fed up with lunch with the bread in the morning, we often preferred to go buy boiled beans, still called the BHB in the country for breakfast. For this we took a big bowl for the bean, another for the donuts, and another bowl for the porridge once! To facilitate the task of the saleswoman when serving. It was so good! And in addition it really satisfied for the whole day.
How to cook Cameroon beans?
To reproduce this tasty recipe at home, nothing could be simpler. You just need to plan a little time, because the donut dough needs time to swell. But during this time you should take advantage of it and start doing beans.
So suddenly:
- 1st step: make the donut dough
- 2nd step: sautéed red beans
- 3rd step: fry the donuts.
For the greediest you can also have a small corn porridge next to it, to stay in the country's atmosphere, by making its BHB!
But for the porridge recipe I will come back to it in another post.

Sautéed bean recipe
Well the bean recipe is quite easy to make I assure you. After cooking our beans, you just have to sautéed by mixing with the tomato and the condiments.
Bean ingredients
As ingredients I used:
- Onion
- celery
- Ginger
- basil
- leek
- garlic
- tomato
- pepper
- salt and pepper
You yourself can see by reading the list of ingredients that the recipe is super easy. We don't get too complicated .. lol
In this recipe I do not use canned beans, so for cooking I must first soak the beans beforehand to soften before putting on fire with enough water, salt and gem salt.
It is ideal to dip the beans in the evening the day before before going to bed. But for those who often forget like me, I dip 2 hours before cooking with hot water so that the seeds swell faster
In any case, all the stages of the preparation are as usual at the bottom of the article.
Do not hesitate to record this recipe on Pinterest to try it later
