For those who follow me on Instagram you surely already know how I love plantains…. Well yes yes today, I offer you a recipe made with plantains ... It is sure that through the title of the recipe, it is really difficult to know what it is, only Togolese can recognize the title ... because it is a recipe from home 😊. In Togo, they are sold by the road, in small sachets.
Ahayaoe ?! (Me, I sometimes have trouble with pronunciation ... 😅) is simply a mixture of plantains (cut very finely) and onion which is then fried until a fairly crunchy texture is obtained. But you can also remove them immediately, when it starts to brown for a softer version.
I had the opportunity to taste it and I can assure you that it is more than delicious. It is not a dish, or a starter, nor a dessert. Non no, it's more like that would say a kind of snacks, the kind of snack that we eat until you are satisfied with it
Ahayoe / Gratéd Fried Plantains
Ingredients
- 4 Ripe plantains
- 1 Onion
- Frying oil
- 1/2 TSP SEL
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients. Plantains must be ripe
- On a board, peel and cut the plantains.
- Here, I used a knife .. but you can also use a mandolin to chop.
- Then chop the onion.
- and add salt
- Mix everything together. Meanwhile, you can put the frying oil on the fire.
- Once the oil is hot, pour your mixture. And fry until a golden coloring is obtained. Do not necessarily wait until the plantains are completely brown before withdrawing them. Because when removing them, you will have to directly put in the small bowls, the frying continues by brown even off the heat.
- Press with a spoon so that the deposit assembles.
- Let stand for 5-10 minutes and serve them. Do not hesitate to use absorbent paper to absorb the excess oil when serving.
