So, about 2 years ago, I shared with you the recipe for Foutou banana here in the blog. This time I had made the recipe with a blender to avoid pounding like our mom traditionally did to save time. Many of you enjoyed this recipe, it's true. But for those who would still like to go faster, and make the Foutoutou in less than 20 minutes . Here is another version of the recipe you will surely like 😉.
What is Foutou banana?
Good for those who could be a little lost (even as I am sure that everyone here knows this knows the Foutou banana), I quickly explain this knows. It is a style of couscous, in short, an accompaniment for sauce made from plantains and cassava. The Foutou banana is very popular in Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana too. This dish is literally one of the t op 10 of the most popular house dishes in Côte d'Ivoire
And I assure you that it is frankly good ! I had never eaten this before when I was still in Cameroon. Foutoutou is generally accompanied by clear sauce, or even seed sauce.
How to cook the Foutou banana?
Traditional , the foutou is cooked simply by boiling cassava and the plantains together, then we pile everything together for a long time in a mortar before forming the balls. The traditional recipe is by far the best, that's clear, but sometimes for lack of time you have to look for certain faster alternatives, if you always want to eat Africans
Quick recipe for foutou banana revisited
As another alternative, I know 3 ways:
- the foutou semolina directly, already ready in the Afro-shops, which will have to be mixed just with hot water for cooking. This method is the fastest of all, but honestly I find that it is a bit bland.
- Either you do with the mixer . The Foutou is really more delicious! You will use a mixer robot to crush everything after boiling . This certainly makes the task easier. But before that you have to plan time to peel the cassava, and everything!
- And see the recipe that I present to you today : you buy the foutou semolina, with a little ripe plantains next to it .
- The principle is simple, it is necessary to cook the steam plantain, then crush and add to the cooking of the Foutou with the semolina . It will make the Foutou really bland at the end and more sweet. For this method to be even faster, you can do like me: bring the mass obtained in a blender . Let the food processor do the work, until the dough is smooth and here
And voila…. Tell me in comment what alternative, you prefer! Thank you for reading the post until the end. In the next post, I would share the recipe with clear sauce! So subscribe to my newsletter so as not to miss anything!
