With temperatures that only climb, what could be better than a good homemade icy yogurt to cool off a bit 🙂 Direction Côte d'Ivoire, with this easy and quick recipe for grotto yogurt or called icy yogurt everywhere else or simply Frozen Yogurt in English speakers.

I do not know why, but I, the Grotto or icy yogurt yogurt reminds me a lot of the Kossam which is sold in Cameroon. The only difference here is the form. Ivorians use small metal jars and bamboo for freezing. Then, to consume it, just get it out of the pot and all the yogurt is found above the small bamboo. To be short, the Grotto yogurt is the ancestor of ice creams in sticks ..lol
Being here in Germany, you can doubt that I could find the small metal pots as you can see in the photo!? 😅 I rather bought these small plastic ice cream molds, also super practical to make my yogurt.
How to make the Grotto ice/ yogurt yogurt
The recipe for icy yogurt that I present to you today is a little more simplified than that of the Grotto yogurt at the Ivorian. I jumped the stage of fermentation to have a version just a little faster .
The recipe is therefore super easy to make , I assure you. Everyone can manage to do it! You only need to mix 3 ingredients and then hop we freeze and then it's all
Ingredients iced yogurt / Grotto yogurt
As ingredients I used here:
- Plage yogurt : which is the main ingredient
- Sweet concentrated milk : to add a little sweet taste
- Cream : to improve the texture of yogurt

Ivorian grotto yogurt
If you want to make the grotto yogurt like the Ivorians , you will have to mix the milk powder, sugar and water . Then let ferment for a few hours before switching to freezing.

Icy yogurt | Grotto yogurt: an easy and quick recipe
Ingredients
- 500 grams of plain yogurt
- 200 grams of tender cream not cottage cheese
- 160 ml of sweet concentrated milk
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix well all the ingredients together
- stir well to eliminate all lumps
- Pour the mixture into the small plastic sachets, in small metal jars or like me in the small ice molds to freeze
- Leave to freeze 4 to 6 a.m. and then taste
