Today I share with you a quick Ivorian claclo recipe or Klaklo / Cracro (in short there are so much ways to write the name 😅).
The claclo recipe:
The recipe is very simple huh? These are donuts made with plantain bananas and seasoned with garlic, ginger onion and pepper . They have a sweet but also salty taste
In the traditional recipe
The donuts are fried in palm oil and sometimes we can add the smoked fish powder and a pinch of cloves.
This delicious snack is also part of the Ivorian street food (even if I have not cited it in the list!) It is generally sold around 4 p.m. next to the famous Alloco!

Claclo or plantain donuts
Ingredients
- 3 Plantains too ripe
- 1 teaspoon of ginger
- 1 spoon with powdered garlic
- 1 Onion
- Pepper
- 100 grams of wheat flour
- Frying oil
Instructions
- Peel the plantains and cut into small pieces
- Add an onion, then crush with a blender
- Then add the flour, salt, pepper, garlic and ginger and mix well.
- In a hollow pan, add oil for frying. Leave to heat for about 3-5 minutes, but be careful not to heat too long.
- With a small spoon, divide the dough into small quantities to fry
- Stir every 2 minutes until you get a beautiful golden color
- Serve with a spicy sauce or simply eat them!
